US becomes first country to authorise vaccination for 12 to 15-year olds; Centre says no such approval in India
Vaccination for Children: The United States of America has authorised to vaccinate the children between the age group of 12 to 15 years old. The USFDA has allowed the emergency use authorisation of Pfizer-BioNTech covid-19 vaccine to adolescents. On the other hand, Indian government has recently refuted the claims that the Centre had allowed Covaxin for children above 12 years.
In an attempt to get vaccinated every American citizen in the US, President Joe Biden on Mondays has said, "The light at the end of the tunnel is growing, and today it got a little brighter." The US is going to be the first country in the world to allow COVID-19 vaccine for ages 12 to 15.
The US president has asked the states to make the vaccine available to younger adolescents immediately and expressed, "This is a promising development in our fight against the virus."
Raising the confidence within the people, he also stated that millions of 16 and 17-year-olds are safely vaccinated, and as more and more Americans get vaccinated, COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths continue to fall.
Pfizer's vaccine is the only one authorized for 16- and 17- year-olds in the United States and around 2 million people in that age group have so far received at least one shot.
The United States is the worst coronavirus-hit country in the world and has recorded over 3.27 crore infections including 5.81 lakh deaths.
On the other hand, India has shown a decline in the daily coronavirus surge after reporting over 4 lakh cases in straight four days. The country recorded 329,517 infections, taking its tally to almost 23 million cases on Tuesday
As many as 3,879 people succumbed to the deadly virus and with this, the death toll has crossed the 250,000-mark. On a positive note, more than 19 million patients have recovered.
