While Public Provident Fund (PPF) is one of the most attractive small savings scheme (SSS) which offers assured returns and is also safe. But before investing in any instrument one must know about the returns and also if investing in this vehicle will actually reap benefits and exactly what amount you will receive at the time of maturity.

PPF is an investment scheme offered by the Government of India through centralised public and private sector banks. This scheme was launched by the National Savings Institute of the Ministry of Finance in 1968. Interest rate of PPF is revised every quarter by the Government. Currently, the prevailing rate of interest is 7.10 per cent.

SBI is one of the banks offering PPF to customers and non-customers. Both minors and adults can open a PPF account with SBI and start saving. Using an SBI PPF calculator makes it easier for you to calculate your returns based on the available rate of interest and tenure. In fact, you can find the  calculator on most banks' websites.

PPF requires you to invest a minimum amount each year until the investment matures. You may prematurely withdraw your sum before maturity (as per conditions) or extend your account after that.

All you need to do is enter the inputs which includes information like your yearly investment. Since the maturity time period is 15 years while the rate being offered is 7.10 per cent for this quarter, these inputs remain static.

Suppose your yearly investment is Rs 25000, then your total investment over the period of 15 years will be Rs 375,000. The interest earned by you as per the calculator will be Rs 303,035, The total amount that you will get at maturity will be Rs 678,035.

Benefits of this calculator include –

  • This PPF calculator enables you to choose the right investment amount.
  • It shows you the total invested amount according to the tenure.
  • Tells you the total interest earned after maturity.
