Stock Market Closing Bell Today: Sensex, Nifty dip on weak global, domestic sentiments; SBI, Sunteck Realty shares crash

Stock Market Closing Bell Today: On account of weak global cues and Indo-Chinese tension further escalating, the Indian indices closed in the red zone after the closing bell today. The BSE Sensex crashed 171 points and closed at 38,193 mark while the 50-stocks NSE Nifty went down 39 points after closing at 11,278 mark. Bank Nifty crashed 477 points and closed at 22,267 levels after the closing bell.

Speaking on the current stock market scenario Simi Bhaumik, a SEBI registered technical stock market analyst said, "The market is trading in the broader range of 11,250 to 11,450. Though, the market is highly volatile, but it managed to sustain above its strong support at 11,250 mark."

Shares of Escorts, Ipca Laboratories, V Mart Retail, Adani Green Energy, Centrum Capital, Amara Raja Batteries, Amber Enterprises, Tata Steel and Biocon were among the leading gainers in the intraday trade session while shares of Sunteck Realty, ITI, Aditya Birla Fashion, Birlasoft, Bharat Dynamics, Repco Home Finance and Jamna Auto Industries were among the leading losers after the closing bell today.

Banking stocks led the bloodbath as the BSE Banking index crashed to the tune of 2.24 per cent. Banking major State Bank of India or SBI share price tanked 4.46 per cent, Axis Bank shares crashed 2.94 per cent, ICICI Bank share went down 2.17 per cent, Kotak Mahindra Bank stock price dipped 1.89 per cent while HDFC Bank stock price nosedived 1.47 per cent after the closing bell today.

Realty stocks also remained under the selloff heat throughout the intraday trade session. Realty major Sunteck Realty share price crashed 6.49 per cent, Prestige Estates Projects shares nosedived 4.96 per cent, shares of Indiabulls Real Estate tanked 4.40 per cent, Brigade Enterprises stock price went off 3.55 per cent while Oberoi Realty stocks went southward 1.39 per cent.

Among the major Asian markets, the Japanese Nikkei 225 index 1.04 per cent, South Korean Kospi nosedived 1.09 per cent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng dipped 0.63 per cent while Shanghai market witnessed bloodbath to the tune of 1.86 per cent.
