Himachal Pradesh Schools and Colleges News Today: The recent spike in the number of COVID-19 cases all over the country has led several state governments to impose stringent measures to control the pandemic. On Thursday, April 1, 2021, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the educational institutions in the state will remain closed till April 15, 2021 due to the recent surge in the number of coronavirus cases in the state.

The state government of Himachal Pradesh had earlier closed schools, colleges and other educational institutions from March 27 to April 4, but the closure has now been extended up to April 15 as per a report by PTI.
Recently, there has been a tremendous rise the number of coronavirus cases across the country. To control the disease, the respective state governments of various states have either closed down schools and other educational institutions in their states or extended the closure of the educational institutions.
The Uttar Pradesh government had extended the closure of the schools up to class 8 till April 4 which was March 31 initially. The Punjab government has also ordered that the schools and colleges in the state to remain shut till April 10, 2021. Chhattisgarh Minister Ravindra Choubey on March 21, 2021 informed that schools, colleges and Anganwadis will be closed in the state due to the massive rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.
The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister has stated that the three Himachal Pradesh districts bordering Punjab such as Una, Kangra and Solan are registering a large number of new COVID-19 cases of late.
Himachal Pradesh currently has 3221 active COVID-19 cases which is up from around 200 cases on February 25, 2021. As per the data released by the health department of the state, Una with 712 cases, Kangra with 684 cases and Solan with 527 cases are the worst-hit districts.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state has reached to 64,014 and the death toll to 1,039 on April 1.
The state government has already put certain restrictions on social gatherings and started a strict enforcement of mask wearing in order to contain the spread of the pandemic.
