Mahindra to launch new SUV S201 in India soon; here're the details

Automaker Mahindra & Mahindra is expected to launch new SUV S201 in India soon.

Mahindra was recently spotted with production-ready S201 which clearly showed the automaker's preparation to unveil the new SUV soon, according to a Chandigarhmetro.com.

The new SUV is likely to be showcased in the 2018 Auto Expo in Delhi, and will run on Indian roads somewhere in June 2018 at an expected price of Rs 9.99 lakh, as per Zigwheels.com.

SUV S201 is stated to be a modified version of SsangYong Tivoli. It will come in a shorter length of less than four metres to avail tax benefits applicable on such cars.

Further, S201 will reportedly have 1.6 litre diesel engine along with 1.5 litre petrol unit, besides having a 5-speed manual transmission options as standard fitment.

The new SUV may be launched in two variants – a 5-seater compact SUV and a larger version to have 7-seater compact.

Once launched in India, Mahindra S201 will compete against Tata’s Nexon and Maruti’s Brezza and the larger version will rival against Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.
